Just upgraded my Blog (featured by the best blogging software on the planet) from v1.2.1 to the fresh released v1.3. This is basically a security release, but also some new features have been added. As usual the upgrade was done within less than 3 minutes (incl. download and extracting). S9Y rocks!(via strcat|s9y)

Genau wie echox und Fab (und vermutlich jeder andere Blogger) habe ich natuerlich auch mit Trackback-SPAM zu kaempfen.
Von Monat zu Monat wird es immer mehr.
Allein letzten Monat hat mod_security >670.000 Trackback SPAM Versuche geblockt. Dann noch Akismet ins Spiel (leider keine Statistik), dass bestimmt auch 'ne riesen Haufen SPAM geblockt hat.
Die Tendenz ist steigend. Allein diesem Monats sinds schon wieder >480.000 die mod_security erfolgreich denied hat. Und wir haben erst den 13.!
Ich bin auf jeden Fall froh, dass meine mod_security/Akismet Kombination so gut funktioniert- denn durchgekommen ist in den letzten 3 Monaten genau 1 Trackback-SPAM (moderiert) und das kann ich verkraften
Das ganze funktioniert sogar so gut, dass ich vor 2 oder 3 Monaten die ekeligen Captchas abgeschaltet habe. Und dadurch dass die SPAMer immer nur 'nen 500 vom Apachen zurueckbekommen, ist der Traffikaufwand fuer den SPAM auch angenehm gering - weniger als 200 MB Traffik fuer >500.000 Hits ist IMHO ok.

Today I was searching for the count of exits from my blog to a specific URL I posted lately. Sadly the "Statistics" plugin of s9y only shows a brief list from the exits of the last 7 days or so, so I wrote a little SQL query to get the stats- maybe this could be interessting for someone else as well.QUOTE:
SELECT SUM(count) AS "Exits", concat(scheme, '://', host, path) as "Exit URL"
 FROM serendipity_exits
 GROUP BY scheme, host, path
 ORDER BY Exits;
 FROM serendipity_exits
 GROUP BY scheme, host, path
 ORDER BY Exits;
You can as well add a WHERE clause to get e. g. a specific host or path.

Today I did some inspections of slow queries on my MySQL servers and I found this sweet query from a s9y plugin:QUOTE:

This query seems to be performed with every site impression of your blog (when the plugin is installed). Not only that e. g. the GROUP BY makes no sense here (besides of slowing down the query), this query can take very very long time in execution (2 to 10 seconds) if you have lots of site impressions (the s9y_visitors table of the blog, where I found this, currently holds over 500.000 rows). For sure there is no rotation or expiration for this table. Dear developer of this plugin, please try again and build it more performance sparing!
[Update] Page refresh problems
After updating S9Y to 1.1 I noticed that sometimes there seems to be a refresh-problem. I figured out that the S9Y Audioscrobbler-Plugin was the reason for this behaviour, so I removed it.
Update: As I like to have a "now playing" plugin, I've written one by myself. It's pretty ugly and written in Perl (and not as one could expect in PHP, as S9Y is PHP). I include the output of the script as JavaScript into S9Y. Though it is able to cache for $time and it understands UTF-8. It trims the title if it will head over one line and it links to last.fm. (And besides of that it's not looking too bad

Thanks to the note from FF, I just noticed that S9Y 1.1 has been released. So I quickly run the upgrade- as usual w/o any problem (just a quick adjustment of my navigation bar). I curious to test the new features.
